Using remote play (via the Internet)

To use this feature, you may be required to update the system software of the PS3™ system and the PSP™ system.


Connect the PSP™ system to a PS3™ system in your home via the Internet from an access point (hotspot) of a public wireless LAN service. By placing the PS3™ system in remote play connection standby mode, you can use remote play when you are away from home or even when you are abroad.

Getting ready (1) (PSP™ system and PS3™ system)

To use remote play for the first time, you must register (pair) the PSP™ system with the PS3™ system.

1.

Connect the PSP™ system to the PS3™ system using a USB cable.

2.

From the PSP™ system's home menu, select (USB Connection) under (Settings).

3.

From the PS3™ system's home menu, select (Remote Play Settings) under (Settings).

4.

Select [Register Device].

5.

Confirm that a USB connection has been established between the PSP™ system and the PS3™ system, and then select [OK].
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the registration (pairing).

Getting ready (2) (PS3™ system)

To set the PS3™ system to enter standby mode from the state where the system is turned off, you must perform the following steps on the PS3™ system. For details, refer to (Settings) > (Remote Play Settings) > [Remote Start] in the user's guide for the PS3™ system.

Steps that need to be performed on the PS3™ system

Getting ready (3) (PSP™ system)

Create a network connection for connecting the PSP™ system to an access point. If the PSP™ system already has a saved network connection for use in connecting to a network via an access point, you do not have to create a new network connection to use remote play. For more information on connecting via an access point, refer to (Settings) > (Network Settings) > [Infrastructure Mode].

Using remote play

1.

Select (Remote Play) under (Network) in the PSP™ system's home menu.

2.

Select [Connect via Internet] for the method of connecting to the PS3™ system.

3.

Select the connection for the access point to be used for remote play from the list of connections.

4.

Enter the sign-in ID and password for the PLAYSTATION®Network account that is being used on the PS3™ system.

The PS3™ system screen will be displayed on the PSP™ system when the systems are successfully connected.

Quitting remote play

Press the HOME button on the PSP™ system, and then select [Quit and Turn Off the PS3™ System] from [Quit Remote Play].

Hint

If the PS3™ system is performing a function such as copying or downloading a file and you do not want to turn it off, you can instead select [Quit Without Turning Off the PS3™ System].
