Party What you can do in a party

Viewing member profiles

Select the avatar of a member of a party to display his or her profile screen. If you are not friends yet, (Friend Request) appears. You can send a Friend request by selecting (Friend Request) or by selecting the person's avatar and sending the Friend request from the profile screen that appears.

When you receive a Friend request from someone who is not your friend yet, (Friend Request) lights up.

Chatting using text chat

Select (Chat & Events) to chat using text chat with members of the party. When members join or leave, or when a game is started, these events appear on this screen. When a chat message or other information is added, you are notified with (New Chat Message).

(Invitation)
The invitation icon appears when you are the owner of a party and a member recommends a friend. When you select the icon, the screen for sending the invitation appears.
B )
(PS Store)
The PlayStation®Store icon appears when the game that a member of the party has started is not installed on your system. When you select the icon, the PS Store application starts and the screen for that game appears.
C )
Displaying other members who are entering text
Up to four of the latest members who are entering text are displayed.

Changing audio settings

Select (Options) > [Settings] to adjust the following audio settings:

Prioritize Chat Audio for [Party] When enabled, when you join a party, the input and output of chat audio are disabled in other applications.
Optimize Volume When enabled, the audio output from other applications is lowered when you join a party.

While you are in a party and using another application, you can adjust the settings without returning to the (Party) application. In the other applications, press and hold the PS button. On the screen that is displayed, you can prioritize chat audio for (Party).

Joining a game

If you are invited to join a game by a member of a party, a message appears on the screen. If you have the same game, select [OK] to play the game with that member.

Checking the voice chat status for you and other players

Status of your microphone

(Microphone on) /
(Voice chatting)
Your microphone is on.
Select this icon to mute your microphone.
(Microphone not connected) A microphone is not connected.
(Microphone muted) Your microphone is muted. Other members of the party cannot hear your voice.
Select this icon to turn on your microphone.
(Voice chatting in a game) You are chatting in a game using voice chat. You cannot hear the audio from chat in the party, and your voice cannot be heard by the other party members.
To change the chat audio for the party, select (Options) > [Settings], and then select the [Prioritize Chat Audio for [Party]] checkbox to set a checkmark.

Status of your connection with other players

(Voice chat enabled) / (Voice chatting) Voice chat with another member is available.
Select this icon to mute the member's microphone.
(Voice chat disabled) You cannot communicate with the other member and cannot voice chat with the member.
(Microphone muted) The other member's voice is muted. The other member cannot hear your voice.
Select this icon switch on your microphone.
(Voice chatting in a game) The other member is chatting in a game using voice chat. The member cannot hear the audio from chat in the party, and you cannot hear the member's voice.

You can also adjust [Disable Microphone] from the quick menu that appears when you press and hold the PS button.

Adding the current party to your favorites list

Select (Indicating that a party has not been added to Favorites) to add the party to your favorites list. Only the owner can control a party with [Invited Players Only].
