Downloading (purchasing) products

In PlayStation®Store, you can download (as a purchase or for free) products such as games, additional items for games, video content or comic content for use with the PSP™ system.

Downloaded content is saved on your PC's hard disk.
To use the content on a PSP™ system, you must first transfer the content from the PC. For details about transferring content, see [Transferring downloaded (purchased) content to a PSP™ system] in this guide.

Select the item that you want to download (as a purchase or for free) from PlayStation®Store.
Detailed information about the item is displayed.

Click [Add to Cart].
The selected item is added to the shopping cart.

Click [View Cart] to display the following screen.
You can see the items in your shopping cart.

Click [Proceed to Checkout].
The purchase confirmation page is displayed.

Click [Confirm Purchase].
The purchase amount is removed from your wallet, and then the purchase is completed. A confirmation message is then sent to the e-mail address you chose as your sign-in ID when you created your PlayStation®Network account.

Select the items that you want to download.
The downloaded content is saved on your PC's hard disk.

Hints

  • Some content types, including custom themes, cannot be downloaded (purchased) unless the PSP™ system is connected to a PC. If a message asking you to connect the PSP™ system is displayed, follow the on-screen instructions to connect the PSP™ system to your PC before downloading the content.
  • You cannot download (purchase) items from PlayStation®Store for countries or regions other than the country or region that you selected when you created your PlayStation®Network account.
  • For information on the types of products that can be downloaded (as a purchase or for free) from PlayStation®Store and after-purchase services, contact the technical support line for your region.
  • If you select [Buy Now] for a purchase item in step 2, you can bypass the shopping cart page and proceed directly to the purchase confirmation screen (step 5). If you have credit card information on record for your PlayStation®Network account, funds will be added automatically when the wallet does not have enough funds to complete the purchase.
  • When you select [Download] for a free item (step 2), you will bypass the shopping cart page and proceed directly to the download screen (step 6).
  • If the sign-in ID (e-mail address) is not correct (or is not a valid e-mail address), the confirmation message will not be received. Use a valid e-mail address where you can receive messages when registering your sign-in ID. To change your sign-in ID, click (Account Management) > [Account Management], and then click [Change Sign-In ID (E-mail Address)] under [Account Management]. Follow the on-screen instructions to make the change.
  • Some content downloaded (purchased) from PlayStation®Store can only be used by an activated PSP™ system or an activated PC. For details about activating devices, see [Managing account information] > [About the device activation procedure] in this guide.

Types of content available in the Video Store

There are two types of video content available in the Video Store of PlayStation®Store. You can download (as a purchase or rental) products from the Video Store in the same way you download products from the Game Store of PlayStation®Store. Limitations on playback time, effective download period and types of downloadable content available all vary depending on the country or region where you access PlayStation®Store.
Video content can be played on a PC or other device (such as a PSP™ system).

In the Video Store of PlayStation®Store for the PSP™ system, only SD resolution content can be downloaded (as a purchase or rental).

  • Restrictions on the playback or download period may vary depending on the content.
  • Purchased or rental content from the Video Store may only be downloaded once during authorised term of use. Re-downloading of content is not permitted without another purchase.

Content available in the Comic Store

You can download products (as a purchase) from the Comic Store in the same way you download products from the Game Store of PlayStation®Store. Comics can be viewed using the Digital Comics application that has been downloaded to a PSP™ system.
