What is Skype?

Skype is an application that lets you make free* calls over the Internet to anyone else using Skype, anywhere in the world. Skype for the PSP™ (PlayStation®Portable) system has the following functions:

Make calls to or receive calls from Skype users (free)
Make calls to standard (landline or mobile) phones (SkypeOut, a paid feature)
Receive calls from standard (landline or mobile) phones (SkypeIn, a paid feature)
Send and receive voicemail (a paid feature in some cases)

^*	Applies only to calls made to other Skype users. For calls made to standard (landline or mobile) phones, you need to purchase Skype credit in advance. Charges are per minute, based on remaining credit. User is responsible for all Internet fees.

Hint

You must have access to the Internet via a wireless access point or hotspot to use the Skype feature.

The following are required to use Skype on a PSP™ system.

PSP™ system
Internet connection (wireless access point or hotspot)
Memory Stick™ media (requires free space of at least 1 MB)
System storage (requires free space of at least 1 MB)
Audio input device that is compatible with Skype for PSP™ (one of the following):
- Headphones (sold separately)*1 and the built-in microphone on the PSP™ system
- Headset for the PSP™ system (sold separately) and remote control for the PSP-2000/3000 series systems (sold separately) *2
- Headset for the PSP™ system (sold separately)

^*1	Commercially available headphones can also be used.
^*2	Attach the remote control to the headset and then connect the remote control to the PSP™ system.
