About the device activation procedure

Device activation is a procedure that allows playback of content only on authenticated devices. This procedure is necessary to protect the digital rights of the content.
Some content downloaded from PlayStation®Store can only be used by an activated PSP™ system or an activated PC. In most cases, the device activation procedure is performed automatically when content is downloaded or transferred to a PSP™ system.

Hints

  • If the maximum number of devices are activated with the PlayStation®Network account that you want to use, you will not be able to download or transfer content to a PSP™ system. In this case, you must first deactivate a PSP™ system or a PC from the account and then perform the download or transfer operation. For details about deactivating a device, see [Deactivating devices] in this guide.
  • Confirm that your PC is deactivated before uninstalling "Media Go" from the PC.
  • The type of devices that can be activated varies depending on the region or the language in use.
  • For assistance with deactivating devices, contact the technical support line for your region.

Deactivating devices

You can deactivate devices using the following methods.
